Today I created a parent/caregiver letter for families that highlighted intervention and Title 1 using ChatGPT -what family documents or the like have you created successfully using AI for communication?

How do you make learning Fry words or sight words fun/engaging for students? I have created game boards for my students to color in the words that they know. I have 20 words on each sheet. If the student does not know a word, I put a x on it and make flash cards for the student. The students really enjoy coloring the words that they know. It is also a great way for them to track their progress.

What curriculum do you use for classroom circles? I like to introduce my students to a circle by using this book called the Sharing circle. The animals in the story help the students learn how to resolve conflicts. We don't have a curriculum in my district, but we do teach our students how to handle conflicts in a peaceful way. I also use my circles to discuss how we can improve as a class as far as treating each other with respect.
What are your favorite items to include in a science notebook (paper or digital)?

How do you teach growth mindset? I love weaving this topic into my morning meetings. I read Giraffes Can’t Dance week one and we make a chart of things we can’t do yet. Students love using post-it notes and as we meet them through the year add new ones. One thing Ms. Ransey can’t do is jump rope and when I prove this at recess they realize we all have something we can’t do yet! What’s your favorite growth mindset lesson or read aloud?

Since coming back from winter break, we have had 4 inclement weather days!! Thankfully, my district hasn’t selected to have students involved in virtual learning, but I suspect we will if we have more days. What kind of activities do you provide your students during remote learning days? Do you have an LMS in your district? What grade levels would you say use it at school?

What are some of your favorite activities using primary source documents for upper elementary?

Does anyone have any tips on tracking all of the common core standards for each individual student in class? (When I used to teach SPED I got the impression that some of my general ed peers were just estimating scores and not using any actual data for a few of the standards. I imagine it can be overwhelming when you have so many students in gen ed but surely someone has come up with some ways to make the process easier and more efficient?)
